Back in March of 2024, I accompanied my husband on a work trip to New Orleans. This trip was transformative. I had always wanted to visit New Orleans to experience the culture—the food, the people, the music, and yes, the “Voodoo”. In addition to all of this, I had always wanted to receive a psychic reading, so I booked a reading which has led me to where I am today. I booked a mediumship reading (at Sassy Magick) and to spare you the details of the reading, it was very healing for me as I received some much needed closure from my dad’s passing back in 2007. As Jamie and I walked out of the shop, he said “I am surprised you didn’t buy a tarot deck.” Truthfully, I wanted one, but I had just paid for the reading—money well spent— and didn’t really need the deck. As the week progressed, however, I kept thinking about buying a tarot deck and eventually went back to the same store and purchased my very first tarot deck. I was nervous and excited. I really didn’t know how to pick out a deck, or what makes a deck “good”. The store worker was very helpful–he said you’ll want to look at the art work and pick the deck that speaks to you. I followed his advice and I eventually went with the Soprafino Dellarocca deck by Da Brigh. I remember holding the deck in my hands, reading the back, analyzing the image on the cover of the box, putting it back on the shelf, looking at other decks, putting them back and finally coming back to this deck. I really liked to “old” art style. It spoke to me. While this is a beautiful deck, I would not recommend it for beginners. Yet, as much as I struggled with learning the cards and their meanings, this deck holds a special place in my heart since it represents the beginning of my transformation. And, it makes for an excellent yes/no spread I use! We’ll save that spread for another post!

Upon returning home from our trip, I searched for resources to help me read the tarot. I had these beautiful cards, yet I had no idea what they meant! In my search, I found an excellent podcast, Inner Work, by Josephine Hardman. She not only helped me understand the suits in the minor arcana, but she also introduced me to the Akashic Records. For the next six months, I kept my ears on her podcast, purchased more tarot decks than I should have (by the way for new tarot readers, I highly suggest starting with a deck that follows the Rider Waiter Smith deck) and I also purchased a tarot success course by Sal Jade through Udemy.
It was during this time—of practicing the tarot, listening to Inner Work and following the steps to do my own inner work, that I felt the calling to share this work with others.
Since my late 20s, I had been seeing a therapist, multiple therapists, to help with anxiety and mild depression. I can confidently say that none of those therapists helped me more than working with the tarot and doing the Innerwork along with Josephine. Because of my transformation, interest in helping others heal, and my curiosity of the Akashic Records, I signed up for Josephine’s 8-week Akashic Records mini course and knew I needed to learn more to heal myself before I could heal others. Before I knew it, I was registered for Josephine’s Akashic Records Certification program in April of 2025.
To keep it simple and for those who may not know, the Akashic Records is a vast field of energy that holds the memories (records) of every thought, action, event, of everyone and everything in the universe. Through the Akashic Records it is possible to receive information from not just your present life but also your past lives. It allows you the time and space for grounding and going home as you access your higher self. Through the Akashic Records, you can heal yourself, transforming into the best version of yourself.
I am excited to share that just recently, this month—December of 2025– I completed my Akashic Records certification. I am now ready to help guide others in their own healing!
Now, let’s go back to August of 2025 and why I have an image of a dragonfly with this post (image is from: Spirit of the Animals Oracle deck by Jody Bergsma). This last August, Jamie and I got our first tattoos together. I chose an image of a dragonfly to represent my spiritual transformation. It is on my right shoulder blade-it literally has my back— and everyday reminds me of how much I have grown and healed in this short time of two years. Also this past summer, I opted to work at a local metaphysical shop, Divine Time, to continue my learning and surround myself with people like me! I learned so much while working here, and am still on staff for the store should they need me! Maybe if you stop on in, you will see me!
Thank you for reading this far! My main purpose for this post is to “come out of the spiritual closet” as we say in the spiritual community. Never before have I felt so safe, so confident, so secure in my own skin. It is “safe for me to see” (thank you Josephine!), and it is safe for me to continue my own healing and to also guide others. I feel honored to have awakened and I am so honored for the opportunity for others to trust me, should they choose, to let me guide them toward their own personal healing whether that is through a tarot/oracle card reading, an Akashic Records reading, or through a simple hello, 👋.
Thank you again for making it all the way through this post! All my best to you ❤️.
